Timber-Frame Re-Build & Renovation

New Oak Frame Behind a Failing Render

Norfolk

Timber-framed home undergoing renovation of its front elevation

An extensive rebuild of the entire front and side elevations of a timber-framed home that had been erroneously cement rendered around 50 years previously. The render had cracked and pulled away from the frame, causing the timbers beneath to rot.

The inappropriate render material had caused the frame to rot to the extent that we had to build an entirely new frame within and in front of the existing timbers. While the work required was extensive, we managed to repair the building while the occupants remained resident in the house. We also retained the existing internal oak posts, studs and beams to keep the character of the house and to minimise the all-important overall costs.
