A builder, a carpenter, a craftsman
Waveney Build is the traditional building company of Calum Powys Wilkinson — carpentry-led, materials-first, and rooted in the East Anglian landscape.
My name is Calum
Waveney Build Ltd is my traditional building company. I was born and raised in Aberdeen, although Norfolk has been my home for a long time now. I've always loved to work with my hands, building and constructing things, since I was a wee lad.
As a young man I took a keen interest in boats and sailing, which led to a deeper interest in boat-building. When I first moved to East Anglia I attended the International Boat-building Training College in Lowestoft, which taught me the intricacies of craft carpentry. I worked on numerous boat projects and found myself inevitably drawn to building timber homes and the larger timber structures you see dotted all over the East Anglian landscape.
Period renovation, garden offices, extensions, timber-framed garages — I've enjoyed working on a wide variety of interesting and brilliantly challenging projects over the years.
Natural materials, low impact
The use of natural, sustainable materials with low environmental impact is of foremost importance in my projects. The areas of work I focus on and specialise in are timber-framing and period and listed-building renovations.
I look forward to hearing from you to discuss your plans. Please feel free to view some of my previous projects, or get in touch to talk further about your ideas.
How I work
The principles behind every Waveney Build project
Thoughtful Craftsmanship
Every detail matters. Each build is a piece of craft, not a commodity — from the joinery through to the final finishes.
Honest Communication
Realistic expectations, clear pricing, and a professional but human touch, keeping you informed at every stage of the work.
Sustainable Practice
Breathable, natural materials with low environmental impact, chosen for buildings that are healthier to live in and made to last.
Let's talk about your project
Whether it's a period renovation, a timber-framed extension, or a new build, I'd be glad to hear what you have in mind.
